As a fellow Canadian who would sneak downstairs at night at a young age and would discover "The Detour", it definitely changed me big time haha. I had to have been around 7 or 8 and I originally thought because all the shows were cartoons that it was aimed for kids (boy was I wrong lol). It's how I discovered shows like Aqua Teen, Home Movies, Clone High, Undergrads, Family Guy and even the Wrong Coast! Great job on this video my friend, you've done your country proud!

The original did not have multiplayer. That was added in the later SNES version...

Do you agree that neither Undergrads, Mission Hill, nor The Oblongs deserved to be rated 18+ AT ALL and they only deserved the 14+ rating? Lmao they were all rightfully rated TV-14 over here in America. And age ratings in America are almost always stricter than Canada, not vice versa. It’s just so awkward to me lol.

While I am Canadian and remember the block very fondly, there was something similar to The Detour/Teletoon Unleashed, but it was its own channel. It was called Locomotion and it aired animation for young adults, as well as anime. It was partially owned by Corus Entertainment from 2001 to 2005. It aired in Latin America, although there was also a version in Spain and Portugal. There doesn't seem to be a lot of English language retrospectives on this channel, if at all. Another thing I would like to mention is that Teletoon Canada tried to launch a few channels in Canada, like Teletoon Adult, Teletoon Multi, and Teletoon Pop. The only channel that ever got launched was Teletoon Retro in 2007.

How do dubbing studios back then get the film and audio when they Agreed licensing with a cartoon from a company? Does the company sent the audio and film overseas or something? 🤷‍♂️ (I had this in my mind for ages! 👴)

Hey, do you ever remember a show that came on late light on teletoon called Splat! (Not the nikelodean show with the same name) that talked about the art of animation amd behind the scenes stuff, i loved watching it and it always stuck out to me being the only show that was live action for the most part on teletoon.

Yeah, these shows were the ones that defined our childhood than what kids are watching today. Total nostalgia dude.

It is refreshing seeing some sort of tv noustalgia from television outside of america, especially canada's Teletoon.

Man I have been wanting to see somebody talk about Canadian adult animation, I see so many retrospectives for MTV, comedy central and even HBO work and a good amount for teletoon, but never the in-between of these two

The Detour is inherently superior to Adult Swim for Cybersix alone.

Just so you know team rocket has always been that way, but the thing about that is because team rocket got like promotion for being like that because normally it’s different between different season for being like so evil and the thing with the Pokémon shock episodes that team rocket are in it normally Japanese viewers seeing it don’t often see it like this because of flashing lights going around since this is like what team rocket always do, it’s still something to look into, so thanks for like understanding like showing that part of it in like this video for team rocket part of it. I remember being 6 and watching spider-man on Teletoon Unleashed!! Before they really started splitting things up by genre with Teletoon Retro and all that. Once The Detour started, they moved my boi spidey into a block in the evening with bugs bunny lol didn’t see spidey for a bit there

Actually my childhood right here. From Clone High to Undergrads & CYBERSIX!! Also can we talk about the Teletoon Detour 3D animations? When it was the guy on his scooter with his robotic dog in some of them? That shit was peak! So glad I grew up during this time

I really liked the land games and the gba ports, not the best way to experience the games but they were my jam

As a kid I always watched more tv at night than during the day so retrospectives on these late night blocks fascinate me. Im now a (slightly) smarter American fan of Canadian animation!

Honestly, I think this show would work better if it was a Fairly Odd Parents type show, where a character wishes for something and it goes wrong. In fact, they've done that twice off the top of my head. Also, unpopular opinion: season 3 is better period. Like, in terms of general quality. Season 3 is more colorful and vibrant, the animation is noticeably much better, and I like some episodes from that season, with my favorite being Festival of the Lights.

You just unlocked a memory: my first exposure to Futurama was ass crack early morning right before school, I turned on Teletoon and was greeted with the superhero episode of Futurama (the worst episode of the FOX run) but it peaked my interest

The original Hamtaro theme has a very very special place in my heart, but i highly recommend also listening to the original Japanese theme at least once. It is a BOP.

I've heard of Cyber Six before online but forgot all about it until now, and comparing Delta State to Scooby-doo: Mystery Inc is an instant sell to me. I gotta check out both! Barely related, but where in the world have I seen that Teletoon logo in my life? Must've been an original show for the channel that was brought over here at some point (to Finland)...
